This play opened on 3 May 2006 in the Sala Garrett of the Teatro Nacional D. Maria II. The author, born in Porto, 1919, whose vast production includes poetry, fiction, and children's literature, was awarded the prestigious Prémio Camões in 1999. Her Ilhas was awarded the Prémio D. Dinis by the Fundação da Casa de Mateus, 1989 (an award she was to receive again in 1994), the Grande Prémio de Poesia Inasset / Inapa, 1990, and the Grande Prémio de Poesia of the Pen Club, 1990. She was also awarded the Prémio da Crítica of the Associação Portuguesa de Críticos Literários in 1980, and the Prémio de Vida Literária of the Associação Portuguesa de Escritores. Three plays, based on the life and fictional characters of Eça de Queiroz. The first consists of imaginary conversations between Eça, members of his family, Ramalho Ortigão, Guerra Junqueiro, and Eduardo Prado, characters from A tragédia da Rua das Flores; characters from Candide, as well as Leonard Bernstein are also listed at the beginning, but we were not able to find them in the actual text of the play after an admittedly quick perusal. The second play includes characters from O Conde de Abranches and Alves & Cia., as well as some composite characters. The third play deals with Eça and members of his family. The author has written 7 previous volumes of plays: Tinteiro de Ferro-camiliana won honorable mention for the Prémio Garrett, 1990; Um gira-discos na floresta was awarded the Prémio Inatel in 1991 and the Prémio Comp. Eça de Queirós in 1992; O testamento do Rei D. João Segundo was awarded the Grande Premio de Teatro Inatel, 1998. His only novel to date, Campo de feno com papoilas, won the Prémio Ler of the Fundação do Círculo de Leitores, 1998.

Play, with Camilo Castelo Branco as the leading character. According to the preface, the play has three themes: O Demónio do Ouro, "focalizado na vida material"; Onde está a felicidade?, "que varre a vida sentimental do escritor"; and Noites de insónia, "um olhar sobre a escrita e a pulsão suicida de Camilo".
One of the most important names in contemporary Portuguese literature, Maria [de Fátima Bívar] Velho da Costa was born in Lisbon in 1938. One of the "Three Marias" who jointly wrote that milestone of Portuguese feminist literature, Novas cartas portuguesas (1972; 7th ed. 1998), a number of her books have been awarded important literary prizes, and her work as a whole was recognized by the Prémio Virgílio Ferreira in 1997. Volume I consists of a facsimile reprint of the Lyon: H. Cardon, 1605 edition, in Latin (Tragicae comicaeque actiones a regio Artium Collegio Societatis Jesu, datae Conimbricae in Publicum Theatrum). Volume II contains a preface, translation of the text into Portuguese, and notes by J. Mendes de Castro, as well as an introduction and translation of the prologue by Raúl M. Rosado Fernandes. Bibliographical references appear in volume II, pp. 21-2. Father Luís da Cruz was an important humanist, poet, and most famous as a pulpit orator. Well grounded in Greek and Latin, he taught rhetoric and Holy scripture. The present work contains four tragedies, one of which, "Seducias", was staged at Coimbra in 1570 when the king D. Sebastião visited the university. "A representação desta tragédia deu origem a zombarias e pasquins (repetição dos distúrbios provocados pelos estudantes durante a visita do rei) que aproximavam a destruição de Jerusalém por Nabucodonosor, no reinado de Sedecias, com a destruição de Portugal, no reinado de D. The author (b. Lisbon, 1954) has published a number of volumes of short stories, novels, and plays. Olhos verdes (1994) was awarded the Prémio Máxima de Literatura. Among her other works are Vida de Ramón (1991), an historical novel based on the life of Ramón Lull, and Nunca nada de ninguém (1991). One of her volumes of plays, Ubardo / A Minha Austrália (1983) won the Prémio Eça de Queiroz / Teatro do Município de Lisboa. Of her various works of fiction, O pequeno mundo, a second edition of which was published 1988, won the Prémio Dom Dinis da Fundação da Casa de Mateus.

This is the first volume in a new series, Panos: Palcos Novos Palavras Novas, a project of Culturgest, whose expressed aim is to unite contemporary drama with student or juvenile theater. The two plays by Portuguese authors were written for this volume. He has written a novel, Do sol (2004), a volume with very short stories, Para averiguar do seu grau de pureza (1996), another with three pieces of short fiction and two screenplays, 2 filmes e algo de algodão (1999); a number of plays, including Universos e frigoríficos (1997) and Arranha-céus (1999), and Escrever, falar: dois diálogos e um monólogo (2002); and a novella, Azul–turquesa, which first appeared in June 1998; a second edition came out in July of the same year. He has also written a volume of impressions of Japan: Livro usado (numa viagem ao Japão) (2001).
